Firostefani

Firostefani is located north of the capital and is now almost joined to Fira. Characteristic features are the view to the volcano, the narrow streets and houses with strong traditional character.

Monolithos

Monolithos beach has shallow waters and black sand. This is near the airport and its characteristic feature is the Monolith that gave its name to the region. The visitor will find a small village, in which there are some hotels, cafes, mini markets, restaurants and several residences.

Emporio Village

Emporio or "Niborios" is the biggest village of the island and it is located in the southern part of the island and away from Fira 12km. The village is particularly interesting for its own Castelli and Goula.

Fira

Fira is the capital of the island as well as the social, administrative and financial center of the island. Below Fira is the old harbor, Gialos which nowadays serves passengers of cruise ships and boats for day visits to the volcano.

Oia

Oia, picturesque with strong traditional character dominates the northern end of the island and is about 12 km northwest of Fira. It is famous for its sunset and the cave houses. It grows on the rim of the Caldera over Armeni, Amoudi until Perivola.

Vourvoulos Village

Vourvoulos village is located in the north east side of the island at a distance of 3.7 Km away from Fira. The village of Vourvoulos grows in the valley and has a small picturesque port for boats.

Faros

At the southernmost point of the island and the caldera's edge stands the lighthouse (Farow) of Akrotiri. It can be accessed by road from the street to Akrotiri. The ride to the lighthouse is spectacular and the view from the Lighthouse unique.

Imerovigli Village

Imerovigli is built on the highest point of the Caldera and is 3 km from Fira. The settlement of Imerovigli starts from the caldera and reaches the eastern coast of the island with view to the island of Amorgos. The visitor can walk the old path that connects the village with Firostefani and enjoy the unique scenery.

Vothonas Village

The Vothonas village is approximately 3.3 km from Fira and next in Messaria. Vothonas considered one of the most interesting villages for the architecture.

Pyrgos

Pyrgos is located 7.5 km east of Fira. The settlement developed at the foot of the Prophet Elias mountain. It has strongly worded, in the buildings situated in Kastelli, the traditional elements of medieval architecture and for this reason it has been declared a "protected monument in 1995."
